The Wild Chickens of Fair Oaks Village

Sun Mar 25, 2007, 3:55 PM
I took the family out for a photo walk to the small artsy neighborhood called Fair Oaks Village. There are several dozen wild chickens that live in the town. They have free reign and sleep in the trees at night.

6 weird habits/things/hates about myself

Thu Feb 1, 2007, 10:29 PM
Rules: The 1st player of this "game", starts with the topic "6 weird habits/things/hates about yourself" and people who get tagged must write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things/hates as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their devpage comments and tell them to read yours...

1. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

2. What I want more than anything in life would have been a nice singing voice. I have trouble memorizing lyrics or dialog, so even if I could sing or act, I still can't remember lines. I do love to improvise music or acting, though.

3. I grew up feeling so in sync with Native American spirituality that I felt bad that I did not have Indian blood. When I was 12, my mother mention in passing to someone else in my ear shot that I was 1/8 Seminole on my father's side.

4. The most influential photograph in my life is one of the late folk-singer and family friend Phil Ochs walking along the waterfront in a pea coat when he was in the Merchant Marine.

5. I ditched art class in high school for a creative writing class. Because the principal of the school was a life long friend of my grandmother I suspect that he fixed things so I got credit. The only time I did walk into the art class was when he showed a movie about Monet's work of the British Parliament. To this day Monet is my favorite painter. I have seen seven authentic Monet's with my own eyes since.

Offline for the weekend

Thu Jan 25, 2007, 8:20 PM
I'm heading to St. Louis for a Coast Guard training conference, and since my laptop bit the dust, and I don't really have such a burning need, I'll actually be un-plugged from the internet until at least Sunday Night or Monday Morning... Ain't nothing to it...

The Darkness

Sat Jan 13, 2007, 6:12 AM
Be Still. Lie Quiet, and Listen to the Nothing.

Hear the Ancient Wisdom hidden long underneath the Din of Men.

I seek that peace. It is outside my grasp and anytime I get close to it, I am pulled back into The Land of The Todays.

I remember when Now was a Good Place To Be.

Then was Good.

Now is Quiet.

Tomorrow is uncertain.

Fear is the ruler of My Future.

Hope is the ally of The Present.

Pain and Love are Two Pillars of The Past.

The Underworld is a Cold, Dark Place Full of Wonders and Mysteries. Some I know now, and others to be revealed in time.

It is Cold and Dark Now. Silent. I am in solitude and I am not alone. Life and Death and Rebirth is all around me.

I can accomplish much, if only they would listen. I can accomplish much, if only I could have enough and some to share. I can accomplish much, if only time is revealed as an illusion.

The Art of Man is not of creation, but of sub-creation. Creation is left to The Music of the Ainur. Sub-creation is the Art of the Children of Gods.

From Chaos comes Beauty, when thought is observed.

Change is Inevitable. Growth is Optional.

Impermanence is the only Truth.

Love is The Law. Love Under Will.
